    Exemptions Available

    14 years old for most non-agricultural work.

    Exceptions:

    • No state minimum when employed by parent (follows federal parental exemption).

    Under 14

    • Generally may not work.

    Ages 14-15

    • Max 8 hrs/day, 48 hrs/week (state allows up to 8 hrs on school days).
    • Max 6 days per week.

    Ages 16-17

    • Cannot work more than 10 consecutive hours or more than 10 hrs in a 24-hour period.

    Permits Required
    • Employment certificate required for all minors under 16.
